A Novel By

Aleta Boudreaux

An epic tale of Celtic Brittany and the New World. SONG OF THE WHITE SWAN blends the classical quest of the mythic hero with the awakening powers of a young Druid priestess.

Sent on a mission for the future Queen of France, Antoinette Charboneau, a young Druid priestess, embarks on a journey across an uncharted ocean to the New World.

Following her destiny, Antoinette encounters a savage land, tests her faith in the Goddess and her love for the man she sees in her visions.

Historical Background

Set in 15th century Brittany and Nova Scotia, Song of the White Swan involves the turbulence of the Renaissance, a Knights Templar secret mission and an alternative discovery of the New World and its People, the Micmac.

When John Cabot arrived on the shores of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in 1497, he was greeted by native people anxious to trade with the white men from across the sea. Many of the native people did not survive the Europeans invasion of the 16th century, but the Mi’kmaq, the People of Nova Scotia had a friendly relationship with the French well into the 1700’s.

One wonders how the Mi’kmaq came to be so well prepared and what kind of leader they possessed who had the ability to guide them safely into the new Era of their homeland.

One also wonders what drove the Europeans to seek the New World. Historians say it was riches and gold. Perhaps there were other things more precious that made men cross the uncharted waters.
