Mu-Sings from Muireall Donald

Thank you for visiting my website. For those of you who haven’t met me yet, I’m the author of two published novels, with two more coming out in the next year. Here you will find information about me, my family and  friends, information on my published and in-progress books, a look at some of the contents of my personal library, links to some of my own favorite websites and excerpts from talks I have given about my books and related subject matter. When I do a personal appearance, I like to focus on one aspect of the novel and discuss it with readers.

My first book, Glencoe A Romance of Scotland is set at the end of the fifteenth century and tells the story of two people from rival clans who fall in love in the aftermath of a terrible massacre.

My husband Steve is my great pillar of support and my safety net. We live on a twenty acre compound of magnolia and pine forest, along with our family in spirit, Aleta and her husband Hamilton and their son, Aleta’s mom and niece and her family, and a collective menagerie of six dogs and ten cats. Good thing we do have twenty acres, isn’t it? If our two daughters and their husbands decide to move back home, they may have to set up tents in the woods…

Another treasured interest of mine is collecting faery tales and folklore from the Celtic Isles. I believe there is vast storehouse of forgotten heritage contained in these stories. Fortunately, many of them are being preserved and retold in new ways so that readers who may not have been fans of faery tales before, are discovering them within the pages of modern fantasy novels. My historical fantasy Skara Brae,  is a modern retelling of an ancient Norse-Scottish legend. It’s set in a Neolithic Village of Orkney.

I hope all this gives you a good look into the whys and hows of my writing and that you have fun browsing through my site. In addition to this one, I also have a site called Mazed Muse Reviews where I hold forth on books, videos, music, magazines and websites that deal with all things Celtic. When you visit the Mazed Muse, you can order any reviewed item directly from my site via Amazon.com.

And I love to hear from readers, so you can email me at : muireall@laughingowl.com
